Green Card

Green Card

The Green Card is the international motor liability document you present at the border when driving abroad. It replaces mandatory local third-party insurance in member countries; without it you may be refused entry or forced to buy cover at the border — usually at a steep price.

Which countries accept it?

The Green Card system covers much of Europe and the Mediterranean basin. Schengen states, Bulgaria, Greece and several neighbours are included. List every destination on the application; countries outside the system may need separate border insurance.

When to apply

Processing slows in peak season (summer, public holidays). Apply at least 3–5 business days before travel. Express options exist in some cases but not with every insurer.

Coverage limits

Green Card covers third-party damage only, not your own vehicle. To protect your car abroad you need comprehensive or international motor cover.

Premium depends on destinations, trip length and vehicle type. The same route can be priced differently across insurers.
